Equal Opportunity & Title IX participates in various national and international awareness months, including National Stalking Awareness Month, Sexual Assault Awareness Month, and Domestic Violence Awareness Month. Below is more information on our programming for each month:
October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month. UNT recognizes this time and acknowledges how domestic violence impacts our campus community. We are committed to annually hosting programs that spread awareness, educate on healthy relationship practices, and provide information on support available to individuals impacted by domestic violence.
Domestic Violence Awareness Month 2024 Recap
EO/TIX held multiple tabling events around the Denton and Frisco campuses providing information on bystander intervention, healthy relationships, and on-campus resources during DVAM 2024.
EO/TIX also coordinated Purple Prom in collaboration with the Dean of Students Office, Student Health and Wellness Center, and University Program Council. Purple Prom is a recognition of Domestic Violence Awareness Month and a celebration of healthy relationship values. All attendees were encouraged to bring hygiene items or shelf stable food to donate to Denton County Friends of the Family's Domestic Violence Shelter.

January is Stalking Awareness Month. Stalking is against UNT Policy 16.005, and we are committed to promoting a safe campus environment. Throughout the month of January, EO/TIX puts on programs that educate students and employees on the prevalence of stalking, how to recognize and prevent stalking, and support available to individuals who have experienced stalking.
Below is a calendar of EO/TIX events for Stalking Awareness Month 2025:
January 13 – 31, On-campus Housing Stalking Awareness Tables
EO/TIX will visit each residence hall during Stalking Awareness Month to facilitate a game on stalking awareness and answer questions students may have about our office. We will be at each residence hall from 3pm to 5pm. Below is a list of where we will be each day:
January 17, Breaking the Silence: Stalking Awareness Month Edition
Join us Friday, January 17th at 11am in Union 381 for a Breaking the Silence lecture on stalking awareness and prevention. We will discuss what stalking is, how to prevent stalking, and how to support individuals who have experienced stalking. Speakers will include representatives from EO/TIX, Survivor Advocacy, and the UNT Police Department.
January 29, Cyberstalking Awareness Table
EO/TIX and the Dean of Students office will be in the Library Mall from 11am to 1pm on January 29th! We will have a game to see if you can recognize cyberstalking and be giving out information on support available to individuals experiencing stalking. Come join us for an informative and fun time!
April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month. Throughout this time, EO/TIX and other campus departments coordinate various events to educate the campus community on best practices to prevent sexual violence and raise awareness of the prevalence of sexual assault. We also annually participate in Denim Day: an international day of recognition of all forms of sexual violence.
Below is a list of events happening around campus during SAAM 2025:
April 1, 11am – 1pm, Union South Lawn: SAAM Day of Action Tabling Join us to kick off Sexual Assault Awareness Month by learning more about how you can get involved in the movement to end sexual violence on campus.
April 1 – 15: Denim Clothing Drive for DCFOF Commemorate Sexual Assault Awareness Month by donating to Denton County Friends of the Family. We will be accepting donations of denim clothing on-campus to support DCFOF's upcoming Denim Day event and their resale store! Collection boxes are available in the EO/TIX suite (Hurley Administration Building, 175), Dean of Student's Office (Union 409), and Office of Health Promotion (Chestnut 301).
April 1 – 30: Student Health & Wellness Center Consent Education Program The Student Health & Wellness Center will have a virtual consent education program available throughout all of April. Learn more and take the course on their site!
April 9, 11am – 1pm, Union North Lawn: Together We Act, UNiTed We Change Join us for a campus wide event recognizing Sexual Assault Awareness Month. We will have resources, games, and free shirts for participants!
April 17, 12:30 – 2:30pm, Union South Lawn: Write and Unite Visit our table to write a message of support or encouragement that will be displayed around campus for the remainder of the month.
April 21 – April 30: Banners of Support Display The banners created during Write and Unite will be on display in the Pohl Recreation Center, Chestnut Hall, Bruce Hall, Kerr Hall, and Rawlins Hall.
April 23, 12:30 – 2:30pm, Union South Lawn: FRIES Consent Education Stop by to learn about volUNTary consent and eat some french fries!
April 24, 10am – 12pm, Soaring Eagle: Building Blooming Relationships Can you spot the signs of a healthy relationship? Play our game and receive a flower and mini vase!
April 24, 4pm, Union 335: Boundaries & Consent Workshop Join the Center for Belonging & Engagement and EO/TIX for an educational workshop. Whether you are learning about boundaries & consent for the first time or feeling stuck/hopeless in implementing them, this workshop is for you.
April 29, 1pm – 3pm, Library Mall: Substance Use & Consent Education Visit our table to learn from the RISE Center and EO/TIX about how substance use impacts consent and how to implement best practices!
April 30, 2:30 – 4:30pm, Union South Lawn: Denim Day Tabling April 30th is Denim Day, an international day against sexual violence. Stop by our table to learn more about the dynamics of sexual violence and how you can play a role in prevention.
